Answer your invitations during setup

Modified on Wed, 23 Sep at 4:33 PM

When this step appears

If other firms or groups had already invited you when you first opened Account setup, the checklist includes Accept or decline your invitations. The page it opens is called Accept your invitations.

Accepting is the quickest way to get started: firms you're connected to can invite you to collaborate on their engagements. But nothing forces you to decide now. You can accept or decline any of these later in the Collaboration Center, and nothing expires while you finish setting up.

If nobody had invited you when you started setup, the step isn't on your list at all. An invitation that arrives later doesn't add it — you'll find it in the Collaboration Center instead.

What's on the page

Under Needs your response, each invitation is one row, saying who sent it and what they're asking:

  • "… wants to connect directly with your firm." — a direct connection. Once connected, either firm can invite the other to engagements.
  • "… invited your firm to join …" — an invitation to a group.

The box on the right, What you are being invited to, explains the two kinds of group:

  • Member-to-member — every member firm can collaborate with every other member.
  • Member-to-host — every member firm can collaborate with the host firm.

Looking before you answer

Each row has buttons to look before you decide. They open a panel on top of the page, so you never leave setup:

  • View Firm shows the other firm's profile — where they are, how many engagements they've taken part in, how quickly they usually respond, and their collaboration score.
  • View Group (on a group invitation) shows the group's name, its type, its host firm if it has one, and the group's description. The panel is read-only — close it and answer the invitation on the row behind it.

Answering

Press Accept or Decline on the row.

Accepting a group invitation asks one more question first. A Join panel opens, explaining that joining adds your whole firm, not just you, and asking Do you offer a referral incentive? — the terms you offer this group's members when one of them refers an engagement to you. Answer it, then press Join group. These terms are separate from anything you offer on the open network.

Only administrators can accept or decline. If you're not one, you can still read every invitation and look at each firm and group, but the Accept and Decline buttons are switched off, and the page says "Only administrators can accept, decline or cancel a request."

After you answer

An answered invitation stays on the page, reading Accepted or Declined, so you can see what you've done. View Firm and View Group still work on it.

The step itself doesn't disappear when the last invitation is answered. Press Continue when you're done: that marks the step complete and takes you to the next unfinished step — usually Add other users.
