When you'll see this page
You'll land here if you sign up with a work email address at a domain that belongs to a firm whose FirmLinks account was cancelled. It appears after you've entered the six-digit code we email you (or after you've signed in with Google or Microsoft), because that's what proves the address is yours. Until then, we don't tell anybody whether a firm exists on that domain.
The page names your firm and the domain we recognised, and says that the firm already has a FirmLinks account, and it is cancelled.
Why you can't just create a new firm
A cancelled account is never deleted. It still holds its engagements, invitations and messages — they're part of other firms' records too — so the domain still belongs to it. Creating a second firm on the same domain would leave two firms with the same name competing with each other, so FirmLinks won't do it. Nothing is created when this page opens; the way forward is to bring the existing account back.
Which version of the page you see depends on whether you're listed as an administrator on the cancelled account.
If you're an administrator: Welcome back
The page is titled Welcome back, and a box headed What reactivating does sets out what happens:
- Everyone who had an account can sign in again, with the roles they had.
- Your engagements, invitations and messages are exactly as you left them.
- Services that were cancelled or declined when you closed the account stay that way — reactivating doesn't un-cancel them.
- Your group memberships and direct connections are exactly as they were — cancelling never removed them, so there's nothing to rejoin.
- You choose a plan next, and billing starts from the day you reactivate.
Press Reactivate followed by your firm's name. You're taken straight to choosing a plan — see Plans compared, and choosing a plan at signup.
If it isn't what you expected, use Talk to support under the button.
If you're not an administrator: This account is cancelled
The page is titled This account is cancelled and says someone at your firm has to bring it back. You can't do it yourself.
Under Who can bring it back, it lists the administrators on the cancelled account by name and title. Any one of them can reactivate it — they're at your firm, so ask them directly. We don't show their email addresses or contact them for you.
If nobody on that list still works at the firm, or you'd rather not ask, press Contact support. Our support team can reactivate the account and will verify the firm another way. If no administrator is left on the account at all, the page says so, and support is the way forward.
If you're an administrator and you sign in instead
An administrator of a cancelled firm who tries to sign in isn't let into the app. Instead they're asked to confirm their email address with a six-digit code, and then offered the same choice to reactivate. Everyone else at a cancelled firm is refused at sign-in — see Sign in, and fixing common sign-in problems.
